The Anuario Turismo y Sociedad (Yearbook of Tourism and Society)
publishes works about tourism, from an interdisciplinary point of view, and
promotes research in this field. It is a publication of the Universidad
Externado de Colombia, Bogota.
In a case study format, the yearbook addresses themes of leisure, free time
and tourism; tourism planning, sustainable tourism, economy and tourism;
tourism management, culture and tourism; tourism research, public policies
and tourism; and impact and development of tourism in Colombia, Latin
America and the World. This yearbook provides space for the publication of
research by young students associated with the Externado University and with
other institutions. It is aimed at professors, researchers, specialists and
scholars of tourism; at professionals in tourism and to everyone interested
in the multidimensional facets of tourism. The submitted articles are sent
to anonymous pairs of external evaluators, specialized in the research
field, who perform the refereeing process.
The Universidad Externado de Colombia is one of the most important,
prestigious and renowned institutional publishers in Colombia. It has more
than 1,900 published titles and has an average of 136 new publications per
year. It also co-edits with prestigious national and international
institutions of higher education centers and other publishers.
The Externado was founded in 1886 and it remains one of the most prestigious
and academically rigorous universities in Colombia. It is the Alma Mater of
many eminent lawyers, professors, magistrates, financers, high state
officials and Colombian leaders. It has the accreditation of high quality
from the National Educational Ministry. The institution has 4 consolidated
research centers with 43 research groups. It has also made more than 187
international agreements with renowned universities around the world, such
as: Université Panthéon-Assas Paris 2, France; Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne,
France; Université Toulouse 1 Capitole, France; Universidad Nacional
Autónoma de México, Mexico; Columbia University of New York, US; University
of Wisconsin-Madison, US; Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain;
Universita Degli Studi Di Roma La Sapienza, Italy; Ruhr-Universität Bochum,
Germany; University of Wollongong, Australia and University of Manitoba,
Canada among others.
Anuario Turismo y Sociedad publishes
annually, and has since 2002. All its content is available in LatAm-Studies
