Orbis Tertius is published by the Center for the Study of Theory and Literary Criticism in conjunction with the Institute for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences (IdIHCS-CONICET) of the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences (FaHCE), Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP), Argentina.

Submitted articles go through a double-blind evaluation performed by the Refereeing Committee. The Committee is composed of scholars from world-wide universities, among which are: University of Florida, Universidad de los Andes, Venezuela; Sarah Lawrence College, University of Maryland and Universität zu Köln.

FaHCE was formally established in 1920. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Argentina. It is recognized mainly for the development and support of scholars, researchers and intellectuals who have excelled at national and international levels. Results of the different lines of research are made available to the public through workshops, seminars and conferences carried out by the faculty’s Secretariat of Research. FaHCE also offers exchange programs working together with other national and international academic institutions with which it has cooperation agreements.

Since its founding in 1905, the UNLP has been at the forefront of research and scientific, cultural and artistic developments. It is one of the largest and most renowned universities in Argentina, hosting 100,000 students and 10,900 teachers in 17 faculties. UNLP integrates 141 research and development centers where 3,500 researchers work on their projects. It also has a museum of natural sciences and a network of 12 thematic museums, an astronomical observatory, a public library and a network of 21 libraries.

Orbis Tertius includes papers in Spanish and Portuguese. It has published annually since 1996, the first 11 years in print and since 2006 as an online journal. The first volumes have been digitized; therefore, the complete and updated collection is available in full text en LatAm-Studies.
