Geograficando,
Revista de Estudios Geográficos
(Journal of Geographic Studies)
publishes articles that have been a product of research:
it also includes bibliographical reviews and thesis about geography or areas
concerning this discipline. It is edited in
the Department of Geography of the Faculty
of Humanities and Education
Sciences (FaHCE) of
the National University of La
Plata (UNLP),
Argentina.
Geograficando
summons
geographers and scholars of Social Sciences and Humanities to construct
geographical thinking frameworks with social responsibility. It promotes the
debate to generate significant knowledge for Argentina’s benefit.
Each of its texts is reviewed according to the double-blind method,
performed by two reviewers (one internal and one external). In case of
dissent, the text is referred to a third reviewer.
The FaHCE
was formally established in 1920. It is one of the oldest and most
prestigious institutions in Argentina. It is recognized mainly for the
development and support for scholars, researchers and intellectuals who have
excelled at national and international levels. Results of the different
lines of research are made available to the public through workshops,
seminars and conferences carried out by the faculty’s Secretariat of
Research. FaHCE also offers exchange programs working together with other
national and international academic institutions with which it has
cooperation agreements.
Since its
foundation in 1905, the UNLP has been at the forefront of research and
scientific, cultural and artistic developments. It is one of the largest and
most renowned universities in Argentina, hosting 100,000 students and 10,900
teachers in 17 faculties. UNLP integrates 141 research and development
centers where 3,500 researchers work on their projects. It also has a Museum
of natural sciences and a network of 12 thematic museums, an astronomical
observatory, a public library and a network of 21 libraries.
Geograficando
publishes
annually, since 2005. All articles
are available in full-text
in LatAm-Studies.
