Archivos de Ciencias de la Educación
(Archives of Educational Sciences) is an annual publication of the
Department of Educational Sciences Faculty of Humanities and Education
Sciences (FaHCE) at the National University of La Plata (UNLP), Argentina.
It aims at contributing to the debate on the main academic and scientific
issues of the educational field.
This journal disseminates essays, research reports and scientific, literary
and cinematic reviews. Its themes address: teacher training, ethics in
education,
teaching deficiencies,
bio-pedagogy, comparative education and education policy changes. The papers
included in Archivos de Ciencias de la Educación are summited to a
rigorous two-stage arbitration process to ensure originality, relevance,
quality and degree of contribution to knowledge. The submitted articles are
subject to a double blind evaluation, conducted by a researcher from the
UNLP and a member of its committee of external consultants. In case of
dissent, they are referred to a third reviewer.
The FaHCE, where the journal is produced, was formally established in 1920.
It is one of the oldest and most prestigious, institutions, recognized
mainly by the formation of professors, researchers and intellectuals who
have excelled at national and international levels. Results of the different
lines of research are made available to the public through workshops,
seminars and conferences carried out by the faculty’s Secretariat of
Research. The FaHCE also offers exchange programs working together with
other national and international academic institutions with which it has
cooperation agreements.
Since its foundation in 1905, the UNLP has been at the forefront of research
and, scientific, cultural and artistic developments. It is one of the
largest and most renowned universities in Argentina, hosting 100,000
students and 10,900 teachers in 17 faculties. UNLP integrates 141 research
and development centers where 3,500 researchers work on their projects. It
also has a Museum of natural sciences and a network of 12 thematic museums,
an astronomical observatory, a public library and a network of 21 libraries.
Archivos de Ciencias de la Educación
was released first with the name of Archivos de Pedagogía y Ciencias Afines
(Pedagogy Files and Related Sciences) and after 1961 under its current name.
From 2001 onward, its content is available in electronic format and its full
text is available at Latam-Studies.
