The Patagonia’s Institute (El Instituto de la Patagonia) is a center of
study and research in Magallanes, Punta Arenas. The center aims to
contribute to knowledge development and dissemination of the humanities and
natural sciences focusing on the human events in time and characteristics of
natural ecosystems.
Since 2003, the Institute gradually began to publish the journal
Magallania (Formerly Anales del Instituto de la Patagonia, Human
Sciences Series). Magallania’s principal aim is the publication of original
and unpublished works realized preferably by the investigators of the
University of Magallanes and associate academicians belonging to other
entities of the country and of the foreigner, in the fields of Social
Sciences and Humanities referred to the Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego,
Adjacent Antarctica and islands and the south-Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Since 2005, Magallania publishes two issues a year. LatAm-Studies
Full-Text includes every number of Magallania and the former Human
Sciences Series from Anales del Instituto de la Patagonia.
