Espacio Regional. Revista de Estudios Sociales is a biannual publication of the Department of Social Sciences at the Universidad de Los Lagos in Chile that publishes in cooperation with Research Direction Department and the Studies and Documentation Program of Human Sciences, both promoting Chilean research results.

The objective of the journal is to produce and distribute articles resulting from research in Social Sciences and Humanities from different perspectives. It is always open to consider new works and reflections as well as other theoretical and methodological contributions. The Journal has a special interest in works examining the Los Lagos Region and Southern Chile.

The content of the Journal is aimed at specialists, scholars and pre and postgraduate students

The journal has and editorial committee of specialists from other universities in Chile as well as internationally from Europe and the US.

The Universidad de Los Lagos is a Chilean University member of the Rectors' Council and the State Universities Consortium. It was first founded as a dependence of the Universidad de Chile in 1965 then became the Professional Institute of Osorno in 1981. It became The Universidad de Los Lagos in 1993. Its priority is education according to global standards for traditional undergraduates and graduates as well as training for workers and technical careers. It is fully engaged in teaching, research, extension, production, management and services. The University leads research at national level. It is accredited by the National Accreditation Commission (NAC).
