Ecofronteras
is the journal of El Colegio de la Frontera Sur in San Cristobal de Las
Casas, Chiapas in Mexico.
The state of Chiapas concentrates 40% of the biological richness of Mexico.
It houses an extraordinary diversity and richness of species of flora and
fauna. The state also faces serious problems due to the marginalization of
the population of the southern border area. El Colegio de la Frontera Sur (ECOSUR)
is a scientific research center, which seeks to contribute to the
sustainable development of the southern border area of Mexico, Central
America and the Caribbean through the generation of knowledge, training of
human resources and linking the social and natural sciences. ECOSUR believes
that research is essential to build the foundations of knowledge. Through
knowledge they want to achieve a sustainable and equitable development for
the benefit of marginalized populations of the southern border.
The journal Ecofronteras was founded in 1997 with the aim of
achieving the necessary communication, to disseminate the research and
education programs, and create linkages outside of the school. The contents
of Ecofronteras provide important theoretical tools and techniques
for sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
This journal is published quarterly. The issues presented in each number
link academia at national regional and international levels and are enriched
with the presentation of progress in developing research projects.
Each item submitted by the journal can be found in Lat-Am Studies Full Text.
