Devenires
is a philosophy journal published jointly by the Institute of Philosophical
Research "Luis Villoro" and the Faculty of Philosophy "Samuel Ramos" at
Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (Morelia, Michoacan,
Mexico). It is peer reviewed, with an editorial board of top Mexican
scholars as well as international scholars from Latin America, Europe, and
the United States.
The Faculty School is named after Samuel Ramos Magaña, one of the most
prominent Mexican philosophers of the twentieth century who contributed
important works about the Mexican culture and identity. It is now one of the
most important schools of philosophy in Mexico. The school offers the BA in
Philosophy and runs a Masters in Philosophy of Culture program in
conjunction with the Luis Villoro Institute for Philosophical Research,
which coo publishes Devenires. There is also a Center for Research
and Women's Studies (ICES), which offers permanent and Diploma courses in
feminist theory. Luis Villoro is a leading philosopher, intellectual and
social activist; born in Spain of Mexican parents.
This journal’s approach to philosophy is to cover a broad plurality of
visions and voices that characterize this field of knowledge, coupled with
the thought that all reality and understanding is not fixed or static, but
subject to a continuous evolution. The journal looks to a continuous
devenir (becoming).
Since January 2000, Devenires, publishes research and reflection on
conferences, books and cultural events focusing on issues addressed by
classical philosophers of the past and the present globally. Contemporary
issues and events are considered as priority.
The journal Devenires presents a number biennially. LatAm-Studies
Full Text includes each of its articles.
