Casa de las
Américas is a literary research center located in El Venado, Cuba.
It
is a non-governmental institution with legal personality, which develops and
expands relations with the socio-cultural peoples of Latin America, the
Caribbean and elsewhere. Since its foundation in 1959 and to date it has
been considered one of the most prestigious institutions of the Spanish
language and with longer life on the Continent.
Holding a clear integrative and Latin-American vision, the center, has
maintained and strengthened intellectual and cultural ties between the
island and the rest of the continent.
Through the journal Casa de las Americas Promotes and supports
research, development and dissemination of art and literature. The journal
is defined as a publication of letters and ideas, in which the most
prominent intellectuals collaborate addressing the issues of Latin America
and the Caribbean. Also young people who start in the creation, research and
literary thought collaborate in the publications.
With a current circulation of three thousand copies, it is published
quarterly but intends to return to the bimonthly frequency with which was
born.
LatAm-Studies Full Text includes every issue published since the inception
of the journal in 1960.
