Caribbean Studies
is an academic journal established in 1961 to publish the results of
research in Caribbean topics in the social sciences and humanities.
This journal is published by the Institute of Caribbean Studies (Instituto
de Estudios del Caribe, IEC) in the Faculty of Social Sciences, Río Piedras
Campus, University of Puerto Rico (UPR) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The UPR is
the oldest, largest, and most rigorous higher educational system in Puerto
Rico. Since 1958, the IEC conducts, coordinates and supports research and
dissemination on various topics of the “Greater Caribbean” (countries whose
shores are washed by the Caribbean waters: all Caribbean Islands, Central
America, Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico).
The articles included in Caribbean Studies are written by Caribbean
scholars and researchers and are published in English, Spanish or French.
The papers submitted are refereed by two anonymous evaluators and the final
decision for publication is taken by the Editorial Board consisting of seven
regular members, including an IEC Researcher, the Editor of the journal and
the Director of the Institute, of which the last two are members on an ex
officio basis.
Caribbean Studies
is published twice a year, one a general issue and the other a thematic one.
Printed issues can be purchased by subscription at the Institute of
Caribbean Studies. Online, LatAm-Studies includes the full-text of every
edition from 2002 to date and is working to get the rest.
