Antípoda
journal publishes issues in the fields of social and cultural anthropology,
archeology, physical anthropology, linguistic anthropology and ethnohistory.
It is published by the Department of Anthropology at the University of Los
Andes in Bogota, Colombia.
The mission of the Universidad de Los Andes is to promote diversity and
respect through dialogue and responsible criticism. It pursues excellence
and enhances the awareness of social and civic responsibilities. It also
promotes comprehensive education and interdisciplinary and flexible
environment in order to integrate arts, sciences, technology and humanities.
Its job is committed to the analysis and solution of problems of their
country.
The Department of Anthropology at this university is the oldest of Colombia.
Based on his experience, the department is renewed and strengthened
according to its members and current needs. True to the mission of the
university it publishes the journal Antípoda, through which creates
links between different social disciplines and national contexts in order to
promote an ethic of collaboration in academia.
Antípoda
reflects intention to change. It delves in anthropology and archeology
taking into account the antipode and its opposite position. It also
proposes a theoretical opening to other social sciences such as sociology,
history, psychology, cultural studies and literature, among others. The
journal establishes an active academic exchange at local, regional and
global levels. All articles published in the journal are subjected to formal
evaluation and correction by academic peers. Its Scientific Committee and
Editorial Board are composed of members of recognized universities,
institutes and centers of South Africa, UAE, Colombia, United States, Brazil
and Argentina.
The journal presents texts in Spanish and, in special volumes, in other
languages. It is published biannually and it is included in Latam-Studies
